The Smart Learning Design Framework Project
Dr Shirley Agostinho
The Smart Learning Design Framework project (funded by the CRC) explored the concept of using a learning design as a support tool to assist teachers to reuse learning objects to develop pedagogically sound learning material. A prototype was developed to illustrate how this could be made operational. In particular, the project investigated how the devised learning material could be presented/packaged as a platform independent data structure (using the MPEG-21 standard) to promote reuse, customisation and interoperability. This seminar will explain the findings of the project and demonstrate the prototype.
The Sydney Olympic Park Excursion Project: The Geography Challenge
Dr Gwyn Brickell
This Geography Challenge is part of the development and initial implementation of a technology supported school visitation program for the Sydney Olympic Park. In addition to technology ‘pods’ to be installed at the Park, the site itself is embedded with rich content and offers a broad range of extended studies and investigations for children. The Geography Challenge offers a web-based program for students of geography to learn curriculum specific skills and concepts in the context of pre-visit, on-site and post-visit tasks and activities. This seminar will demonstrate the authentic challenge, web-environment and tasks that comprise the excursion project.
