Title:
MPEG-21 - The Multimedia Framework

Presenter:
Ian Burnett

Date:
September 12, 2002

Abstract:
Multimedia content is becoming ubiquitous - distributed on physical media, over the Internet, wireless and through broadcasting. Along with this explosion of content consumption and creation come new challenges. In particular, some predict that we will soon be faced with a scenario which shifts from today's client-server approach to "Six billion creators for six billion users". MPEG-21 is the response of the Moving Pictures Expert Group (MPEG) to create a standard that "enables transparent and augmented use of multimedia resources". This presentation will discuss the MPEG-21 solution and its use in future multimedia distribution.
