Abstract:
This presentation gives a general introduction to my thesis topic. It
consists of two parts. The first part gives some basic information about
wavelet-based image coding and defines the thesis problem. In the
second part we first introduce "Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree
(SPIHT)" - an efficient algorithm for progressive image compression-
then our modification of this algorithm called Virtual SPIHT (VSPIHT)
along with a very low bit rate video coding system based on a three
dimensional version of VSPIHT (3-D VSPIHT ) will be presented.
