Centre for Emerging Networks and Applications (CENA)
Director: Professor Farzad Safaei
Real-time, interactive, and untethered networked services are becoming
increasingly important for group interaction in several domains such
as entertainment, collaboration, and education. These applications
require a new set of capabilities from the underlying network and
server infrastructure to perform satisfactorily on large-scale.
CENAs research is concerned with development of these new applications
and the underlying network and server infrastructure for
their support. CENA is currently conducting research in the following
areas:
- Next generation network and server infrastructure, including Smart
Networks, application-aware ad hoc and sensor networks, Content
Distribution Networks and server overlays;
- Large-scale distributed real-time applications such as networked
virtual environments and multiplayer games;
- Real-time Content creation, personalisation and distribution;
- Topology and performance optimisation for complex distributed
applications; and
- Network modelling and characterisation.
Research Partners:
- Smart Internet Technology Cooperative Research Centre
- Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre
- Institute for Infocom Research (IIR) - Singapore
